The 7 Bags All The "It Girls" Are Carrying Now

Mar19

There's always something new with those girls! Following is what Harper's Bazaar had to say about the current "bag bonanza."

There's always a handbag women around the world (who aren't morally against dropping $2500 on a trend piece) have to have. In 2011 it was the Céline luggage Tote, in 2000 it was the Fendi Baguette. This season, as evidenced by the amount of street style photographs capturing it in it's Fashion Week natural habitat, there are a half a dozen "IT" bags to lust after. Take your pick!

1) The Chloe "Fay" bag

2) The Loewe "Puzzle: Bag

Dior "Lady Rouge, New York" The Making of

Jan13

As anticipation builds up over David Lynch’s ‘Lady Dior’ commercial, fans of French actress Marion Cotillard, who again stars in the ads, can already peek behind the scenes of the print campaign for the range.

The making-of shows star photographer Annie Leibovitz directing Cotillard, who is wearing Dior’s latest collections, as creative director John Galliano and other onlookers are watching the scene.

The latest chapter of the Alfred Hitchcock-inspired ‘Lady Dior’ commercial was recently shot by Lynch in Shanghai.

Dior is not only venturing into the realm of movies, however, but also into that of music with a clip to Franz Ferdinand song Lady Rouge premiering online Jan 14.

Meanwhile, the owner of Brooklyn-based restaurant Moto confirmed to Dossier that, as rumored, it is indeed directing legend Martin Scorsese who has been filming the new commercial for Chanel’s No. 5 fragrance, starring French actress Audrey Tautou.

Both campaigns are part of the movie trend in fashion and beauty, with many labels no longer settling for commercial ads and telling stories instead, often in several episodes. (Luxuo)

Karlie Kloss for Dior

Jan07

SHADY LADY: How do you convey the spirit of an entire movie in one image? That was the intention of John Galliano in Dior’s spring-summer ad campaign, photographed for the first time by Steven Meisel and slated to break in a range of international fashion titles next month. “Karlie Kloss smoldered with the same intensity and wide-eyed look as a young Lauren Bacall,” Galliano said of his chosen model for the season. “I love the smoky, sophisticated atmosphere of the image. This feels very right for now — escapist and sensual.…You can start a whole script just by staring into her eyes.” Galliano noted the campaign, echoing the Dior show last October, was inspired by “shadowy film noir cinema” and updated by Meisel to create a “modern-day billboard siren.” (WWD)

Beautiful with a Film Noir sort of feel. Prior to reading the article and just looking at the picture, my first thought was "wow she really does look like a young Lauren Bacall." John Galliano accomplished his mission.

Italian artist Maurizio Cattelan is best known for his subversive, hyper-realistic sculptures—including depictions of Pope John Paul II being hit by a meteorite, a child-size Hitler kneeling in prayer and a suicidal squirrel. For W’s Art Issue, he conceived a politically and religiously charged portfolio featuring supermodel Linda Evangelista. “She’s a still actress,” says Cattelan of Evangelista. “At the end, she was so tuned-in that all she needed were a couple of words and she knew what we wanted.” A new piece by Cattelan is included in “Pop Life: Art in A Material World,” an exhibition at the Tate Modern in London that runs through January. In February a show focusing on his large-scale works will open at the Menil Collection in Houston. Cattelan cocurated the Berlin Biennial in 2006 and lives in New York and Milan.

Style Icon: Iris Apfel

This eighty-six year old lady is the epitome of style. She wears big, bold jewelry and beautiful ornate clothing. So popular is she, that a book was written about her titled: THE IRREVERENT IRIS APFEL: RARE BIRD OF FASHION. The book contains clothing and jewelry that is absolutely breathtaking. I like the fact that she has and revels in her "individual style". She does not follow the "fashion path"....she has created her own.

Gracious Beauty Audrey Hepburn

I think that she will always be remembered most for her role in Breakfast At Tiffany's, but from what I have read about her, she was a beautiful person inside and out. Here is a quote that was spoken by her that I think sums up the type of person that she was...."never let yourself grow up believing that anybody if different from anybody else.....love each other and do what you can for your neighbor".

"Lady Day"

Billie Holiday gave new meaning to singing a song.

Daphne Giunness

Another "lady of style"

Diana Ross

As she appeared in the movie "mohogany"
